Later I posted an exhaustive article on this at my website of http://www.mossypooh.com . I believe that animals have souls no less than you or I.Harry Heberthttp://apps.mossypooh.com/blog/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-445038240421672350.post-66177533024310897462009-07-31T23:20:10.220+01:002009-07-31T23:20:10.220+01:00Emily, thanks so much for taking the time to comme...Emily, thanks so much for taking the time to comment; it's lovely to hear from another vegan! I totally agree that this issue is something that needs raising in the christian community a lot more. It's such a shame that many people limit their compassion to their own species, when God has clearly given us hearts capable of caring for other creatures as well.

I think that 'speciesism' is something that needs combatting in our western society. Factory farming is cruelty on an incomprehensible scale, and any cruelty, regardless of the species against which it is committed, is an injustice, and should therefore be fought against.

I hope you keep reading the blog, and also that you encounter some other vegans/vegetarians amongst those christians you know!Hayleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15600396628935878685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-445038240421672350.post-90356699660084396552009-07-29T18:52:27.688+01:002009-07-29T18:52:27.688+01:00this is a wonderful post. its so refreshing to rea...this is a wonderful post. its so refreshing to read words from a christian who cares about animals. i'm not christian, but i have lots of family and friends who are. and to me its so disgusting to hear someone say that they believe god put animals on this planet for us to eat. GUH! i get the concept of a person saying "other animals eat animals, so i eat animals" but a lion in the amazon isn't building a mass production of elk in a slaughterhouse. people try to claim that eating meat is so natural, but if you're buying meat, it is 0% natural.

i don't believe in heaven or hell, but i am surprised that most people who believe in heaven do not pass on the ability of being sent to heaven to nonhuman animals. people need to stop thinking we're greater than all other species.

-Emilydude_itsemilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00860848831333602399noreply@blogger.com
